Flap-Less/Drill-Less Surgery Method For Dental Implants
Experienced and trusted dentist Dr. Kaveh Kanani D.D.S., head of the Kanani Dental Group, one of the most popular family dentist clinics in The Valley, is transforming the way that dentists and patients alike approach dental implant surgery. What are dental implants?
Before deciding whether you want to get dental implants, it’s important to know what dental implants are. Dental implants replace a patient’s missing natural teeth. There are two main parts of a natural tooth:
- The root (the part of the tooth that attaches the crown to the jaw and holds it in place)
- The crown (what you see when someone opens their mouth. It’s used for chewing and helps uphold the shape of the patient’s face.)
When a tooth is missing for an extended period, the jawbone that used to hold the root of the tooth suffers from moderate to severe bone loss. Bone loss causes the width of the bone to shrink or become narrow. When this happens, the jawbone is not able to support the implantation of a titanium dental implant as this requires drilling into a significantly eroded and deteriorated jawbones.
Block Bone Graft Surgery
When the jawbone is not able to support the implantation of a titanium dental implant as a result of bone loss, a procedure known as block bone graft surgery is often necessary. During this time, the patient is placed under anesthesia and a small piece of bone is remove, usually from the patient’s ribs, chin, hip, or a cadaver. The block of bone will then be placed into the jawbone to create a thicker platform that makes it easier for the dentist to drill the dental implant into.
When a crown and root are damaged or lost, the ridge bone begins to deteriorate. Once the bone begins to deteriorate, the ridge bone becomes thinner, making it harder to make space for the implant. For 90% of dental offices, once the bone has deteriorated to a point where there’s no room for the implant, a bone graft is necessary. This procedure is extensive, painful, and requires an additional six months to to heal. In addition, the healing time and experience is unpredictable.
Dr. Kanani’s Method
This is where Dr. Kanani’s method reigns supreme. His Flap-Less/Drill-Less Surgery Method allows patients to waive the need to undergo block bone graft surgery. Dr. Kanani’s technique removes the need to drill into the jawbone to place the dental implant. Instead, Dr. Kanani uses a series of dental instruments to expand the jawbone until a space large enough to fit the implant has formed. This procedure is done in one visit. In addition, it doesn’t require the additional six months of weight time, nor the cost of the bone graft.
What’s more, this is all done without losing any bone tissue.
How It Works
The technique Dr. Kanani uses is a way to condense the outer bone into a thicker wall that creates more support for the dental implant. Termed the Flap-Less/Drill-Less Surgery technique, Dr. Kanani uses a series of dental equipment to expand the jawbone. A small gap will form and he will then insert the titanium dental implant into it. He then places the dental implant into the gap, sutures it closed and gives the patient several months to recover.
Why It Works, It’s Minimally Invasive
The innovative aspect of this method is that its creator, Dr. Kanani, has successfully engineered a way to insert dental implants without the need to drill into the jawbone and cut the gum open. This guarantees the patient a much shorter healing period, less pain, and a less hefty dental bill. When it comes to Dr. Kanani’s method, patients do not have to grapple with the decision to undergo block bone graft surgery, saving them potentially thousands of dollars in dental implant costs.
This technique is a minimally invasive way for patients to get back the smile they deserve without spending the money, pain, and time that often comes with taking the conventional route and getting dental implant surgery.
It’s Less Expensive
Dr. Kanani’s new Flap-Less/Drill-Less Surgery Method successfully brings the cost of dental implants down to an unprecedented $999. Most dental implant surgeries can run up a medical bill of close to $3,000 when you add in the cost of the bone graft surgery.
Patients Recover Faster
Dr. Kanani’s patients have attested that they experienced shorter recovery times than those who go through the more conventional surgery method. This is likely because in the conventional surgery method, the patient’s jawbone is drilled into and gums cut open.
In most cases with Dr. Kanani’s Flap-Less/Drill-Less Surgery Method, which allows for faster healing with a lesser chance of the patient experiencing post-surgery complications, Dr. Kanani can treat his patients without performing a block bone graft, thus saving his patients the extra surgery that can often take more than six months to heal.
